According to a News Report:
“On Friday, police shot and killed a man who stabbed six people in the Countdown supermarket in Auckland in what authorities described as a terrorist attack by an ISIS supporter.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said at a news conference Friday that “a violent extremist undertook a terrorist attack on innocent New Zealanders.”
The suspect, who was from Sri Lanka, was already known to police due to his support for ISIS, Ardern said. She said police were able to kill him within 60 seconds of him starting the attack because they were already monitoring him.”
Consider the implications:
- It only took 1 minute for the cops to arrive with guns.
- During that 1 minute, 6 people were gravely injured by a terrorist.
- That’s 1 every 10 seconds.
What if the people of New Zealand were allowed personal firearms and someone in the supermarket had been carrying a gun, and was willing to use it?
- The cops would have drawn a chalk line around a terrorist, and transported fewer people to the hospital with stab wounds.
A citizen, armed with a handgun, trained in its use can deliver a deadly shot within 2 or 3 seconds. Even allowing for the first stabbing, as a starting point, at least 4 people would have been saved, possibly 5.
Guns save lives.
