Sons of Issachar know the signs of the times.

From the tribe of Issachar, there were 200 leaders of the tribe with their relatives. All these men understood the signs of the times and knew the best course for Israel to take.  1 Chronicles 12:32

Those men who wrote  and agreed to the Declaration of Independence, were the same men who wrote the US Constitution and, later, its first 10 amendments.  Those amendments must fit with the Constitution and then with the Declaration as if they were three  parts of one whole.  They cannot be considered separately.

They wrote in 1776:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident,

  1. that all men are created equal,
  2. that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights,
  3. that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
  4. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, 
  5. That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.

But, when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.”

Can you see how their argument builds on itself, from “all  men are created equal” to “it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government”?  Read their argument again.

modern-riflesFurthermore , in their writings,  is the written guarantee of the ability of “the people” to do just that.  They wrote in 1791:  “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” (2nd Amendment) (Written earlier, but ratified by “the people” in 1791, and  referring to military-style arms.)

That guarantee is not about crime prevention, or hunting, or sport shooting, or even fighting terrorism.  It’s about “the people” keeping and bearing the means to control a government, which has the power to control them, if not kept on a short leash.  A leash which prevents that government from exercising a monopoly of deadly force.  A leash not much longer than the sling of a military-style rifle.

This idea is not seditious, not unless you consider the Declaration of Independence to begadsden-flag a seditious document (which the British Government in 1776 did, of course).  This idea is as American as baseball (invented by a Civil War General – who led American militias with military arms to defeat the great evil of slavery).

According to recent polling data, more than 80% of us DON’T trust the United States Government.  And that’s OK.  That’s right in line with our founding and our founders.

They, too, knew that the government couldn’t be trusted;  that’s why the Constitution went to such efforts to  divide power between 3 branches, and then again between the federal government and the States.  That’s also why “the people”, as a condition of ratification,  insisted on a written bill of rights, which included a right to keep and bear military – style arms.

So, again, because the government cannot be trusted with absolute power, keeping and bearing  military-style arms, which are “necessary to the security of a free state” is foundational to America.  And only with those military-style arms as the final resort of a free people, will we continue to preserve our freedom – freedom that, once lost, may never be recovered again.

Sons of Issachar all know what time it is, and they “keep and bear” military-style arms.
